Welcome Visitors

The Freehand New York is the latest addition to the Freehand Hotel family. Fully renovated in 2018, the Freehand New York is housed in the former George Washington Hotel—once home to many storied writers, musicians and creatives. As with all FreeHands, food and beverage is of the utmost importance. The restaurant and lobby bar here are headed by West Village restaurateur Gabriel Stulman’s Happy Cooking Hospitality. Freehand New York will also get an outpost of Smile To-Go, Simon & The Whale, and of course, the Broken Shaker Rooftop Bar. With a diverse room offering of queen & king bedded rooms as well as rooms with bunk beds and other configurations for families traveling together there is a room for everyone.

We understand the importance of cleanliness and safety amid this global pandemic. The Hotel prides itself on the following changes made to keep everyone safe on property:

-Mandatory Temperature Checks for Guests, Patrons, & Employees Upon Arrival
-Touch-Less Check-in Technology

-Social Distancing Guidelines Posted Throughout
